Prices
The cost of your job will depend on the word count, the complexity of the content, the level of editing or proofreading required and the number of rounds of editing.
Structural editing is the most in-depth form of editing, so will often be the most expensive service. However, a thorough structural edit may result in a lighter (and therefore cheaper) copyedit. Manuscript assessments are generally the least expensive service for a full-length novel. An assessment for a full-length novel (say 70-80,000 words) might start at around $900. The minimum charge for any service is $250, which might cover the cost of a picture book edit.
Please note that the prices mentioned above are a guide only.
For a quote tailored to meet your needs and budget, please contact me and state:
Not sure what you need? No problem. Please contact me and I can advise you on the level of editing you might require.
Once we've made our initial contact, I'll ask you to provide a sample of your project (For longer works, this might be about 1000 words). This will help me to assess the type and extent of work your manuscript needs and estimate how long it will take. From this sample, we can discuss any requirements and I can give you a quote and a timeline.
